The Most Popular Sherwin-Williams Colors for Florida Homes (From a Tampa Bay Painter)

National "favorite color" lists are fine for a magazine. They don't survive contact with Florida. Our sun is stronger, our light is whiter, our stucco sweats in humidity nine months a year, and our HOAs have opinions about everything. This list is different: these are the Sherwin-Williams colors that actually end up on Florida homes — the ones that show up again and again in Florida painter guides and HOA approval palettes, and the ones our Tampa Bay customers ask for by name. We organize them the way Florida homeowners actually choose: by the job the color has to do.

The stucco body colors Florida paints most

Alabaster (SW 7008, LRV 82). Florida's most-painted warm white, and it's not close. On stucco it reads clean and bright without the blue glare a stark white throws off in full sun, and its soft warmth flatters both Mediterranean and coastal homes. It also reflects heat, which matters on a wall baking at noon in August. It is the first white we show almost every exterior customer. Greek Villa (SW 7551). The relaxed, Mediterranean off-white. Greek Villa has a bit more cream in it than Alabaster, which makes it the natural fit for Florida's Spanish-revival and tile-roof homes — it was practically made to sit next to terracotta. Warm, soft, and forgiving of Florida dust between washings.

Antique White (SW 6119, LRV 67). The HOA champion — by painter and approval-committee accounts, the most-approved body color in the state. It sits between white and traditional beige: bright enough to count as a white, warm enough to never glare. If your subdivision has an approved palette, odds are strong this or something like it is on it.

Oyster White (SW 7637). A light neutral with a whisper of gray, and a Florida exterior sleeper. It handles bright sunlight without yellowing, pairs cleanly with dark trim and natural stone, and gives homeowners who find warm whites too creamy a cooler lane that still behaves in our light (true cool grays wash out here — this one doesn't).

The coastal colors: blue-green is our state dialect

Sea Salt (SW 6204, LRV 63). The most recognized coastal color in America is a Florida staple for a reason: a soft blue-green-gray that turns greener in bright sun and bluer in shade, mirroring Gulf water over pale sand. HOAs from the Panhandle to the Keys approve it as a body color in coastal communities, and inside, it's the bathroom and bedroom color of the decade. Oyster Bay (SW 6206). Sea Salt's deeper, more sophisticated sibling — a medium green-gray with real presence. Painter guides single it out for standing up to bright sunshine and salt air, which makes it a smart full-body choice where Sea Salt would wash out, and a great shutter and door color inland.

Rainwashed (SW 6211). A soft aqua-gray that Tampa painters keep naming on coastal exteriors — enough color to feel like the coast, enough gray to stay calm. It pairs naturally with white trim and a bronze or charcoal front door, and it's the gentlest way to put a blue-green on a whole house.

Topsail (SW 6217). The lightest, airiest blue on this list — clear-sky color. Topsail is what homeowners picture when they say "beachy but not loud": beautiful on coastal cottages and lanai walls, and a fresh front-door option with white trim and natural wood.

The neutrals that survive Florida sun

Agreeable Gray (SW 7029, LRV 60). Yes, it's the national best-seller — it's also a Florida workhorse. On stucco it reads as a warm, modern light gray that pairs with white trim and dark doors, and inside it's the whole-house flow color our customers choose most. One Florida caution: our sun warms it toward tan by afternoon, so sample it late in the day, not just at noon. Our full guide: https://paintforthecausellc.com/guides/sherwin-williams-agreeable-gray/

Accessible Beige (SW 7036, LRV 58). The warm neutral Florida's traditional homes keep choosing: a beige disciplined by gray, so it reads current instead of dated. Painters recommend it for stucco because it delivers warmth without absorbing punishing heat, and inside it settles beautifully next to wood, tile, and warm light.

Repose Gray (SW 7015, LRV 58). The cooler gray that still works here — versatile indoors and out, and a cottage favorite in North Florida. It's Agreeable Gray's cooler rival; in our warmer Gulf light we steer most homeowners to the warmer choice, but on a modern home with gray floors and lots of glass, Repose earns its place.

The accents that make a Florida home pop

Naval (SW 6244). Florida's front-door navy. Deep, classic, and coastal without trying — Tampa Bay exterior guides put it at the top of door and shutter lists, and against a white or Alabaster body it gives instant curb appeal. Also a kitchen-island and office star indoors.

Iron Ore (SW 7069). The modern charcoal. Where black feels too sharp for a stucco home, Iron Ore's soft warmth works — doors, shutters, garage doors, and exterior accents that make a light body color look intentional.

Quietude (SW 6212). Sherwin-Williams' 2025 Color of the Year, and Tampa exterior painters are already putting it on stucco: a soft sage with a blue-green influence that connects a home to its tropical landscaping. Doors, shutters, or a full body on a shaded lot. (Its deeper cousins Clary Sage and Evergreen Fog are worth sampling in the same trip.)

The Florida rules behind this list

  • Keep stucco colors above LRV 40. Florida exterior guides repeat this for good reason: lighter bodies reflect heat (dark stucco can run dramatically hotter), resist UV fading longer, and keep the air conditioner happier. LRV is the share of light a color reflects back, 0–100.
  • Sample outside, three times of day. Florida sun is the most honest critic your color will ever meet. Morning, noon, and late afternoon on the actual wall or stucco — no exceptions.
  • Check the HOA palette before you fall in love. Many Tampa Bay communities approve from a published list; several colors above are staples on those lists, which speeds approval.
  • The paint matters as much as the color. Delicate coastal tones fade first on south and west walls. SuperPaint Satin is our standard go-to, but for Florida exteriors our honest preference is Sherwin-Williams Duration (or Emerald) — better fade and mildew resistance, and the right long-run investment when repainting later only costs more.

What a Florida paint job costs

Full interior repaints in Tampa Bay, from real scenarios we priced this year, land between roughly $4,000 and $13,000: a 950-square-foot condo, walls only, at $4,020; a 1,500-square-foot ranch with walls, ceilings, and baseboards at $8,337; a 2,300-square-foot two-story full package at $13,067. Full exteriors run roughly $3,600 to $13,400 and up. Most of the money is prep and protection — pressure washing, crack repair, masking, and the tape, plastic, and paper that protect everything else you own. Frequently asked questions

What is the most popular paint color for Florida stucco homes?

Warm whites lead everything: Alabaster is the name we hear most, with Greek Villa right behind it on Mediterranean-style homes, and Antique White the most HOA-approved body color in the state. For homeowners who want actual color, Sea Salt is the coastal default.

Do dark colors work on Florida exteriors?

At accent scale, beautifully — Naval and Iron Ore doors and shutters are all over Tampa Bay. As a full body color, dark stucco absorbs serious heat, fades faster, and many HOAs cap how dark a body color can go. We'll show you the sample and the trade-offs honestly before you commit.

How do I know a color will look right in my light?

The painter's rule: get it on the actual wall or stucco and check it morning, noon, and late afternoon. Colors shift — Sea Salt especially — and Florida sun exaggerates undertones. Any house painter near me who skips the sample step is guessing with your money; we sample before we paint.
