Exterior Painting in Tampa Bay, FL

Florida is the hardest place in the country to keep an exterior looking good. UV beats color out of paint in a few summers, humidity feeds mildew on every shaded wall, afternoon storms drive rain sideways into every seam, and near the coast, salt air quietly undermines adhesion. A paint job that lasts ten years up north is doing well to last six here.

That doesn't mean exteriors are a losing battle — it means the system matters more than the color chart. We wash with mildewcide, fix what's failing instead of painting over it, prime every bare surface with the right primer, and topcoat with premium 100% acrylics or elastomeric on crack-prone stucco. Two coats, always.

We paint stucco, Hardie board, wood siding, and trim across Pasco, Hernando, and Hillsborough counties — from Gulf-front homes in Hudson to the new subdivisions of Wesley Chapel. Every exterior is estimated on foot, in person, so the price reflects your house — not a satellite guess.

A great painting company answers the phone, shows up when it says it will, and stands behind the work. We built Paint for the Cause on exactly that.

Plenty of Tampa Bay homeowners go looking for affordable painters in Tampa Bay and land here — because a fair price with us never means skipped prep: exact written quotes, premium coatings, and a 2-year workmanship warranty on every job.

Our exterior painting process

Wash & treat. Full pressure wash with mildewcide — salt film, chalk, mildew, and grime removed so coatings bond to a clean surface.
Scrape & sand. All failing paint scraped to a sound edge; glossy or chalky areas sanded and sealed.
Caulk & repair. Gaps at trim, windows, and penetrations sealed; minor stucco cracks and wood rot addressed before paint.
Prime bare surfaces. Masonry primer on stucco, wood primer on bare trim — topcoat alone doesn't bond to raw substrate.
Two topcoats. Premium 100% acrylic, sprayed and back-rolled for full coverage — or elastomeric on stucco that moves and cracks.
Detail & cleanup. Shutters, doors, and trim detailed; landscaping and walkways left clean. Final walkthrough with you.

Exterior painting cost in Tampa Bay

Typical range: $3,000–$8,000 for a Tampa Bay home exterior. Single-story homes with sound paint land lower; two-stories, heavy prep, wood repair, and elastomeric coatings land higher. These are planning estimates — your free on-site estimate is the exact number, in writing.

Repainting on schedule — before the old coating fails — is always cheaper. Failed paint doubles prep labor, and in this climate, waiting costs more than acting.

Frequently asked questions

How often should a Tampa Bay home be repainted?

Every 5–7 years is typical — closer to 5 near the coast or on sun-blasted south and west walls. Inland and shaded homes can stretch toward 8 with quality paint.

What's elastomeric paint, and does my stucco need it?

Elastomeric is a thick, flexible coating that bridges hairline stucco cracks and moves with the wall. If your stucco has a history of cracking, it's worth it; sound stucco does fine with premium acrylic.

Can you paint in Florida's summer?

Yes — we schedule around the weather: earlier starts, watching the radar, and avoiding fresh paint ahead of afternoon downpours. Fall through spring is ideal, but we paint year-round.

Do you handle wood rot?

Minor rot repair, yes — we cut out the bad wood, treat, fill or replace small sections, and prime before painting. Extensive structural rot gets referred to a carpenter first.

Will new paint stop the mildew on my shaded walls?

It helps a lot: we treat mildew at the wash stage and use mildew-resistant topcoats. But deep shade plus sprinklers hitting the wall will always grow something eventually — we'll set honest expectations.

My HOA has approved colors — can you work with that?

Absolutely. Bring the approved palette and we'll match it exactly. Many Tampa Bay HOAs require pre-approval, so get that submitted early and we'll schedule around it.

How do I find the best painters in Tampa Bay?

Look past the ads: check that the price and warranty are in writing, ask exactly what prep is included, and make sure the owner stands behind the schedule. We check every box — free estimates, full prep on every job, and a 2-year workmanship warranty.
